You have realized that you want to fight the demon of aging. You cannot completely win, but you can surely improve the appearance of signs of aging.

However, making the resolve of working for improving the signs of aging is just the tip of the iceberg.

The science of aging is a complex one. Realizing which ingredients to look for in the skincare products is vital and well, difficult.

While for targeted and comprehensive treatment, you should confer with your Skin specialist in Islamabad, but it is also important to know which ingredients are effective for anti-aging.

Coenzyme Q10

Also known as vitamin Q, this ingredient is an excellent antioxidant. When there is greater quantity of free radicals in body, due to diet, pollution and essential processes, our body undergoes oxidative stress.

This then leads to damage to the healthy cells, including the skin cells like collagen. Antioxidants help in the neutralizing the free radicals, thereby protecting the skin. Hence, it is very important to include antioxidants in your skincare.

Furthermore, coenzyme Q10 also has a more direct role in protecting the skin from signs of aging. This coenzyme protects the collagen and elastin tissues in the skin. When we age, the supply of this enzyme diminishes as well.

Thus, using products that contain this enzyme also help in supplementing body’s supply of coenzyme Q10, therefore, slowing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Green tea

Not only is green tea refreshing for the body, but also the skin as well. Green tea contains polyphenols, a type of phytochemicals, that help in rejuvenating the skin.

Moreover, green tea is also effective for improving the appearance of dark circles. When we age, the area underneath our eyes — which already is thin to begin with– starts to become even thinner. Consequently, dark circles become pronounced with age.

Furthermore, green tea is also an excellent source of antioxidants, and thus helps in keeping the skin looking more youthful, when out of the impact of free radicals.

Vitamin C

As we age, our skin becomes dull, due to the decreased cell turnover. The dead cells also pile on top of the facial skin, making it even more sallow. Vitamin C, on the other hand, helps in brightening the skin.

Furthermore, aging also leads to appearance of dark spots. Vitamin C also helps in changing this as well. It also protects the skin due to it antioxidative properties as well.

Glycolic Acid

Glycolic acid is a type of alpha-hydroxyl acid. It helps in exfoliating the skin, but its effectiveness lies in that fact that it has very small molecule size. It then manages to penetrate deep inside the skin, dissolving the bonds between the dead cells, thereby improving the texture of the skin, and hence is great for fighting signs of aging.

Retinoids and retinols

These ingredients are the holy grail of antiaging products. A derivative of vitamin A, these ingredients help in increasing the cell turnover.  These also help in increasing the production of collagen, hence, making the skin look youthful and more supple.

Retinoids and retinols also help in improving the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Similarly, these ingredients also help in decreasing skin discoloration as well. Freckles and marks that are characteristic of aging skin are also made lighter with the use of retinoids and retinols.

Alongside improving skin texture, these chemical compounds also help in remedying sun damage as well.

However, there are side-effects of retinols and retinoids as well. They make the skin every sensitive, and susceptible to sun damage if not protected by sunblock. They are also not recommended for women of childbearing age, and should also not be used by pregnant women.

Therefore, make sure that you confer with the Best dermatologist in Lahore as to how much, and what potency of the retinoids and retinols to use.
